Created to honor the race numbers of the three iconic victories-”3” from the 1974 Indy 500, “7” from the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix, and “59” from Le Mans in 1995-the 3-7-59 theme is a stunning collage that tells the story of McLaren’s Triple Crown journey. Intricate details symbolic of McLaren’s evolution include hidden ‘Easter eggs’ depicting the cars that secured these victories and the evolution of the brand’s logo from the original racing crest to the current ‘Speedmark’.
The front of the car pays tribute to the McLaren MP4/2, with its ‘7’ race number and redesigned ‘shattered’ livery, while both sides commemorate the Le Mans winning McLaren F1 GTR, with its gray color scheme and distinctive ‘59’ race number. Swirling checkered flag effects seamlessly blend these elements, meticulously painted to recreate the transition between the orange hue of the Indy 500 winner and the gray of the F1 GTR.
An innovative technique by MSO introduces a stunning blue ‘splash’ inspired by the race numbers and rendered using a vector process to create a three-dimensional effect while maintaining a flush surface. The artistry extends to the interior, where Triple Crown logos adorn the headrests and the seats feature etched graphite Alcantara with contrasting stitching. The interior features visual carbon fiber elements painted with matching artwork and bespoke carbon fiber shift paddles reminiscent of the ‘shattered’ nose design of the McLaren MP4/2.
The car is full of hidden details, including QR codes offering insights into the car’s heritage, an illuminated electrochromic MSO logo and exterior silver leaf detailing created using unique gilding techniques.
