A race weekend full of summer vibes: the third round of the 2024 Alfa Revival Cup at the Autodromo Nazionale dell’Umbria “Mario Umberto Borzacchini” lived up to expectations. Spectacular Alfa Romeo touring and grand touring cars, including the GTAm, Giulia Super, Giulia Sprint GTA, GT Veloce 2000, and the Alfetta GTV 2000, roared onto the track.
Saturday morning’s free practice sessions showcased the skills of the cars and drivers. However, Edoardo Caponi and Fabrizio Sabatini’s Jolly Car Squadra Corse GTAm number 81 did not participate due to a mechanical problem.
The 30-minute qualifying session in the late afternoon was thrilling. Giacomo Barri, partnering with Emilio Petrone, clocked a time of 1’21.364, taking pole position. Lukas Stojetz and Bernhard Laber set the second-fastest time, with their GTAm number 69 starting just under a second behind. Davide Bertinelli took the third-fastest time, trailing the German duo by less than two-tenths. Massimo Guerra and Giovanni Serio, in their Giulia GTA, followed with the fourth- fastest time, setting up an exciting grid for the race. The race began at noon on Sunday, with intense competition throughout the 60 minutes. Emilio Petrone in the GTAm number 50 started strong, followed closely by Lukas Stojetz. On the second lap, Stojetz overtook Petrone, who was then passed by Bertinelli. By the seventh lap, Bertinelli had overtaken Stojetz, with Marco Guerra and Emanuele Benedini moving up to third.
