Über die von Simon Kidston, dem Neffen von Glen Kidston, der 1930 mit einem Bentley das 24-Stun- den-Rennen von Le Mans gewann, gegründete Kidston SA, wurde mit diesem Wagen die Ben- tley-Legende und die Tradition der Bentley Boys“ begründet. Kidston, Clement, Duff und andere wie Sir Tim Birkin, Dr. Dudley Benjafield oder der ehemalige Bentley Chairman Woolf Barnato wur- den aufgrund ihres rücksichtslosen Lebensstils als „Bentley Boys“ bekannt. Der Firmengründer W.O. Bentley über die Eskapaden dieser Gruppe: „Die Öffentlichkeit stellte sich gerne vor, dass sie in Wohnungen in Mayfair lebten. Sie tranken Cham- pagner in den Nachtclubs, spielten mit Pferden und an der Börse und tobten sich am Wochenende auf den Rennbahnen aus. Für einige von ihnen war dieses Bild gar nicht so falsch.

As company founder W.O Bentley said of this group’s antics: “The public liked to imagine them living in Mayfair flats. Drinking Champagne in nightclubs, playing the horses and the Stock Exchange, and beating furiously around the racing tracks at the weekend. Of several of them, this was not such an inaccurate picture.”
