Gibt es ein persönliches Highlight?
Ja sicher: Die Staatspreisverleihung des Landes Nordrheinwestfalen an Michael Schumacher in 2022. Das war mit großen Emotionen verbunden, weil die Familie dieses großartigen Sport- lers und Menschen, und auch Sabine Kehm und sein ehemaliger Teamchef und Freund Jean Todt die Auszeichnung entgegennahmen. Das ist auch für die Michael Schumacher Private Collection ein prägendes Signal. Das Medienecho war weltweit wirklich groß und wir sind uns bewusst, dass wir stolz darauf sein können, dass die Michael Schumacher private Collection bei uns in Köln beheimatet ist.
Was war eine besondere Herausforderung?
Tatsächlich die Pandemie. Aber auch das haben wir im Team bewältigt und sogar während- dessen ein hochkarätiges Turnier – das zweimonatige internationale DBV-Event des Olympi- schen Boxens den ‚Cologne Boxing Worldcup‘ in 2021 – sozusagen in einer Blase – realisiert.
Was bereitet Ihnen am meisten Freude bei Ihrer Arbeit?
Es sind die täglich wechselnden Herausforderungen und Aufgabenstellungen. Gemeinsam mit meinem überschaubaren Team gehen wir mit großer Motivation gemeinsam und lösungso- rientiert voran. Für mich ist das Team von großer Bedeutung. Ich bin zwar der Dirigent, aber gemeinsam machen wir die Musik.

Do you have a personal highlight?
Certainly: The award of the State Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia to Michael Schumacher in 2022. This was an extremely emotional occasion, with the award being accepted by the family of this great sportsman and human being, together with Sabine Kehm and his former team boss and friend, Jean Todt. It was also a defining signal for the Michael Schumacher Private Collection. There was a huge media response worldwide, and we know that we can be proud of the fact that the Michael Schumacher Private Collection has found a home here in Cologne.
Was there a special challenge?
Indeed, the pandemic. But we also managed to overcome that as a team, and during the crisis we even organised a top-class tournament – the two-month-long international DBV Olympic boxing event in 2021, the ‚Cologne Boxing Worldcup‘ – so to speak in a bubble.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The daily changing challenges and tasks. Together with my smallish team, we move forward together with great motivation and in a solution-oriented manner. The team is hugely import- ant to me. I may be the conductor, but we make the music together.
