Eines der wichtigsten Highlights der C1 Corvette war aber die Glasfaser- Karosseriekonstruktion. Es war das erste Serienauto, dessen Karosserie vollständig aus diesem leichten und korrosionsbeständigen Material bestand. Diese Innovation ermöglichte eine größere Designflexibilität und trug zu einer verbesserten Leistung bei. Die frühen C1-Corvette-Modelle (1953–1955) waren mit einem 3,8-Liter-Reihensechszylindermotor „Blue Flame“ ausgestattet, der rund 150 PS leistete. Im Jahr 1955 führte Chevrolet den leistungsstärkeren Small-Block-V8-Motor ein, zunächst ein 4,3-Liter-Aggregat, das später auf 4,6 Liter erweitert wurde. Die V8-Motoroption steigerte die Leistung der Corvette deutlich, mit einer Leistung von 195 bis 290 PS.

One of the highlights of the C1 Corvette, however, was its fibreglass body. It was the first production car to have a body made entirely of this lightweight and corrosion-resistant material. This innovation allowed greater design flexibility and contributed to improved performance. The early C1 Corvette models (1953-1955) were powered by a 3.8-litre Blue Flame inline six-cylinder engine that produced approximately 150 bhp. In 1955, Chevrolet introduced the more powerful small- block V8 engine, initially a 4.3-litre unit, later expanded to 4.6-litres. The V8 option significantly increased the Corvette’s power output from 195 to 290 bhp.
