Der Hoffman X8 Prototyp wurde in den frühen 1930er Jahren entwickelt, als eine Gruppe ame- rikanischer Brüder, die Fishers, die berühmte Hudson Motor Company übernehmen wollten. Um ihre Glaubwürdigkeit zu beweisen, beschlos- sen die Brüder, dass sie ein hochmodernes Auto brauchten, um sich an der Spitze der Automobil- industrie zu positionieren und um zu zeigen, dass sie es mit dem Übernahmeangebot ernst meinten.
The car was conceived in the early 1930s, when a group of American brothers, the Fishers, set their sights on talking over the famed Hudson Motor Company. In order to prove their credentials, the brothers decided they needed a state-of-the-art car to position them at the cutting edge of the au- tomotive industry, and to show they meant busi- ness with the takeover bid.
