The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, with only 20 coupes and six roadsters produced, is not just a road-legal version of a FIA GT Championship winner with a 6.9-liter V-12, but also one of the rarest modern exotics, far scarcer than the McLaren F1. These cars seldom appear at auction, but when they do, each commands a significantly higher price than the previous. A decade ago, a coupe fetched $1.1M, followed by a $1.9M sale for a roadster in 2015, and a $4.515M price for another coupe in 2018. Recently, a 170-km roadster set a new record, selling for $10.235M, raising the bar for future sales of the 26 CLK GTRs.
