Der diesjährige Sieger, ein Lancia Astura Pinin Farina Cabriolet aus dem Jahr 1939, ist ein herausragendes Beispiel für Karosseriebau und Ingenieurskunst. Das Auto verfügt über einen V8- Motor mit schmalem Zylinderwinkel, versetzter Zylinderanordnung und zweiteiligem Zylinderkopf. Der Astura wurde 1931 mit dem Ziel auf den Markt gebracht, neue Maßstäbe in der Entwicklung sportlicher Tourenwagen zu setzen, und das elegante Karosseriedesign von Pinin Farina hob diesen Anspruch 1939 auf ein neues Niveau.
Der Vorsitzende des Lenkungsausschusses, Richard Charlesworth MVO, überreichte den Chairman’s Award an einen ikonischen Bugatti Typ 57C aus dem Jahr 1958, dessen Karosserie von Gangloff stammt und der durch drei horizontale Reihen ausgestanzter Löcher auf der Motorhaube gekennzeichnet ist.
This year’s winner, a Lancia Astura Pinin Farina Cabriolet from 1939, is an outstanding example of coachbuilding and engineering. The car has a V8 engine with a narrow cylinder angle, staggered cylinder arrangement and two-piece cylinder head. The Astura was launched in 1931 with the aim of setting new standards in the development of sporty touring cars, and the elegant body design by Pinin Farina took this ambition to a new level in 1939.
The Chairman of the Steering Committee, Richard Charlesworth MVO, presented the Chairman’s Award to an iconic 1958 Bugatti Type 57C, with bodywork by Gangloff and characterized by three horizontal rows of punched holes on the hood.
