Goodwood hat das Thema für das von Mastercard präsentierte Festival of Speed 2024 enthüllt: “Horseless to Hybrid - Revolutions in Power”. Dieses Thema fasst die reiche Geschichte des Motorsports zusammen und zeichnet unsere Faszination für Geschwindigkeit und Leistung seit den Anfängen des organisierten Wettbewerbs vor 130 Jahren beim Paris-Rouen-Trial von 1894 nach. Das Festival ist eine Hommage an die bemerkenswerten Fortschritte, die uns in die Gegenwart geführt haben, und erkundet die innovativen Ideen, die unsere automobile Zukunft prägen werden.
Bei der Paris-Rouen-Veranstaltung im Jahr 1894 wurden Fahrzeuge vorgestellt, die durch Dampf, Benzin, Elektrizität, Schwerkraft, Druckluft und Hydraulik angetrieben wurden. Elektro-, Wasserstoff-, Hybrid- und nachhaltige Kraftstoffe sind allesamt Anwärter, die umweltfreundlichere Alternativen für die Zukunft bieten.
Goodwood has unveiled the theme for the 2024 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard – ‘Horseless to Hybrid – Revolutions in Power’. This theme encapsulates the rich history of motorsport, tracing our fascination with speed and power from the infancy of organised competition 130 years ago during the Paris-Rouen Trial of 1894. The festival will pay homage to the remarkable advancements that have brought us to the present and explore the innovative ideas poised to shape our automotive future.
The Paris-Rouen event in 1894 showcased vehicles propelled by steam, petrol, electricity, gravity, compressed air, and hydraulics. At that time, there was no consensus on the optimal power source for the ‘horseless carriage.’ Fast forward a century dominated by the internal combustion engine, and we find ourselves once again at a crossroads. Electric, hydrogen, hybrid, and sustainable fuels are all contenders offering greener alternatives for the future.
