The Jaguar XKSS, a road version of the Le Mans-winning D-Type, is among the most exquisite and valuable road cars. Created in 1956 using leftover parts from Jaguar’s racing program, the plan to build 25 units was cut short by a factory fire, resulting in only 16 completed cars. Jaguar later produced the remaining 9 as “Continuation” models. This particular XKSS, initially sold in North America, later belonged to various UK collectors, one acquiring the “JAG 1” plate. Rarely auctioned, the last original XKSS appeared in 2017 but didn’t sell. This one fetched $13.2M, within its estimated $12M–$14M range.
